Healthy well developed Bramin girl, aged 9 years, p.m. 15th Aug. 1868, 26 hour's after death. Eyes sunken in sockets; conjunctivae deeply injected ; bright greenish fluid flow ing from nostril and mouth Not opened Ditto. Inflamed, contains no fluid ; recent partial adhesions from Elastic exudation. Walls and valves healthy; both cavities filled with dark semifluid blood and clots in right cavity ; subendocardial ecchymosis not visible. Congested, with a few abraded patches tenaceous glairy mucous lining the mucous membrane. Empty; con gested. u

Homicidal arsenic poisoning.
The case of a 50-year-old man who died mysteriously after being admitted to hospital is reported. He had raised the possibility of being poisoned prior to his death. A Coroner's post-mortem did not reveal the cause of death but this was subsequently established by post-mortem trace element analysis of liver, urine, blood and hair all of which revealed very high arsenic concentrations.
